Chapter President: Fatimah Areola

FatimahHey, I’m Fatimah! I’m really excited to take on the role of Chapter President! I just finished 2B Management Engineering and this will be my second full year on IISE. I joined because I wanted to get closer to the engineering community here at UW and explore the opportunities available for students to develop their leadership skills. My goal for this term is to connect first-year students with resources they may need for a successful start to university! I’m looking forward to working with the IISE team to grow our chapter into a sustainable resource for students to develop their academic, professional and social skills.

Screen Shot 2019-06-08 at 1.41.15 PMHello! I’m Dana and I’m going into 2A Management Engineering. This is my first year joining IISE and I’m so excited to be this year’s finance director. I’ve been to the last IISE conference in Concordia and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Seeing all these engineers connecting, networking and representing their universities with a joyful spirit encouraged me to become more involved. I’m super excited to show you what UWaterloo IISE has to offer and I can’t wait to represent UW in the coming conference!

Operations Director: Oriana Coburn

orianaHi, I’m Oriana Coburn, and I’ll be joining UWaterloo IISE as an Operations Director. This is my second term in the role and I’m excited to join the chapter! Attending events run by IISE in my 1st year exposed me to the great work that the chapter does, and after having the opportunity to be a delegate at this year’s conference, I knew I wanted to join the team. As an Operations Director, my goal is to organize events that successfully increase the awareness of Management Engineering, and provide students with the opportunity to grow professionally, academically and socially.

Operations Director: Sunrise Long

sunriseHey I’m Sunrise, the Operations director for IISE. This is my third year with the chapter but hope to draw from my experience in other leadership positions. Previously, I had the pleasure of attending the IISE Conference in Halifax as a delegate. I loved how the organization connects students and industry leaders to discover the endless industrial engineering possibilities. I joined the chapter because I’m fascinated with industrial and management engineering. I think there is something so interesting about taking multifaceted systems and distilling it down into one refined structure. I champion sustainable long-term growth and hope lead the chapter in that direction.
